Adrian Beltre signed a one-year deal with the Boston Red Sox with a possible second year player option.

Beltre supposedly turned down three-year offers from the Oakland Athletics and Philadelphia Phillies.

Joining the Red Sox lineup seriously increases the value of Beltre heading into the 2010 season. He should bat at the bottom of the order but will be an everyday player.

Beltre had a disappointing season last year with significant declines in HRs, RBI, and runs. Tread lightly when drafting Beltre as you should have a potential backup up your sleeve.

This signing solidifies Kevin Youkilis at first and Dvaid Ortiz at DH for the Red Sox.
