Sheets Passes Physical, Signs with Athletics

The Oakland Athletics signed Ben Sheets to a one-year deal, bringing the former Milwaukee Brewers ace to bolster a young starting rotation.

Sheets spent the entire 2009 season nursing an injury but passed the Athletics' physical prior to his signing.

Sheets offers fantasy owners powerful innings when he isn't benched due to injuries. His career ERA of 3.72 and WHIP of 1.20 beckons a late-round gamble for most fantasy owners.

Beware of Sheet's injury risk as he missed significant portions of four out of the last five seasons.
