Brewers Taking a Chance on Jim Edmonds

The Milwaukee Brewers and OF Jim Edmonds agreed on a one-year minor league deal with an invitation to Spring Training.

The Brewers are looking for a veteran presence in the outfield after letting Mike Cameron go at the end of the 2009 season.

Edmonds still sports serviceable power numbers if he can find adequate playing time which is unlikely to happen in Milwaukee. He hit 20 dingers in 2008, his last season in the majors.

Ryan Braun, Corey Hart, and newly-acquired Carlos Gomez will likely be the starting outfield when 2010 starts. Edmonds could earn a bench role with a strong Spring.
