Tigers Reach Deal with Damon

The Detroit Tigers reached a one-year deal with Johnny Damon for $8 million. Damon turned down a two-year, $14 million deal from the New York Yankees.

Damon is coming off one of his best seasons but many question his offensive abilities outside of the Yankees lineup.

The Tigers were looking for a leadoff type hitter after offloading Curtis Granderson during the offseason. Damon still has the skills to be a solid leadoff option but could also bat in the 2 slot.

Damon's value falls a bit after moving from the Yankees lineup but he is still a top outfield option.
