Nathan Out With Torn Elbow Ligament

Minnesota Twins closer Joe Nathan has a torn elbow ligament in his throwing arm. The Twins are looking to rest him for a couple weeks to assess whether he will need surgery or not.

Nathan had 46 saves, 89 Ks, a 2.10 ERA, and 0.93 WHIP in 2009. While he has not yet decided to have surgery, an operation like this would cause him to miss the whole season.

Hopefully you haven’t drafted him yet. It will be hard to replace someone who has had a WHIP under 1.00 every season but one since he became a closer (that one season he had an unstomachable 1.02 WHIP).

Look for someone like Matt Guerrier, Jose Mijares, or Jon Rauch to save games unless the Twins make a trade.
