's 14 game hit streak came to an end on Thursday. He still managed to walk his way on base and swipe second base. Is Milledge legit or should we expect his production to quit?
While Milledge has been hot as of late, batting .392 in August with five home runs and 3 steals, his production hasn't been steady enough this season to warrant a “legit” rating. He managed to bat above .250 in only two months this season, .392 so far in August and .266 in April.
Milledge is sporting a .258 season batting average. His home run total (12) and stolen bases (16) are very respectable for a guy who has played in 99 games. If he can develop some plate discipline before next season he could be a late round sleeper for those trying to pad a few stats.
At 23, Milledge has plenty of time to develop into the player that the wanted him to be. Washington has to be patient and should be rewarded in the near future.
It's time to “quit” Milledge and move on to the next hottest hitter in baseball. Keep your eye on him in deep leagues next year as he could be around 20-20 next season.
