The Milwaukee Brewers traded SS J.J. Hardy to the Minnesota Twins for OF Carlos Gomez.

Hardy's dismal 2009 season included a demotion to AAA. Hardy is a (female) fan favorite in Milwaukee but his weak production on offense makes him disposable.

The Twins hope Hardy can find his bat as their starting shortstop. His glove has always been dependable.

The moves signal that the Brewers will go with Alcides Escobar at short and Carlos Gomez in center. The Brewers are unlikely to sign Mike Cameron again for the 2010 season.
