Matt Holliday is rumored to have been traded from the Colorado Rockies to the Oakland Athletics.

The news around the wire is that sources believe Holliday has been dealt for Huston Street (CL), Carlos Gonzalez (OF), and Greg Smith (SP).

The Rockies will make the move in a effort to get the greatest value for 2010 free-agent Holliday who is due $13.5 million in 2009 under his current contract.

The Rockies will gain a much needed closer since they lost free-agent Brian Fuentes in the offseason.

Carlos Gonzalez is an interesting prospect but will not fill the void left in the Rockies outfield. The Rockies have many talented outfielders in the minors waiting for their chance in the majors.

Holliday's numbers shouldn't show too much of a difference in 2009 as he is a legit player outside of Colorado.
