The Philadelphia Phillies filled their vacant third base on Thursday by signing Placido Polanco to a three-year, $18 million deal.

Polanco spent the last 4.5 seasons playing second for the Detroit Tigers. He will post serviceable numbers for fantasy owners in 2010 but don't expect much speed or power.

The Phillies were in the market for a third baseman after letting Pedro Feliz walk after the 2009 season.
