Murphy to Start in Left Field for Mets
February 22, 2009
New York Mets Manager Jerry Manual announced on Sunday that Daniel Murphy will be the starting left fielder for the Mets to start the season. Initial speculation had Murphy in a platoon situation with Fernando Tatis.

This is great news for Murphy's fantasy value. At almost 24 years of age he deserves a good look by fantasy managers. His .313 AVG in 49 games last season is nothing to shake a stick at.

Murphy has never really hit for power with a career high of 13 in the minors he should be a serviceable bench player in the near future.
